The project started with Mr Christos Christoforou’s love of Birds and Wildlife. The Pafos Zoo was originally going to be for Mr Christoforou’s private use to house his enormous private collection of Birds, but he decided to open the Zoo to the public, so that they may also enjoy the splendours of his private collection & it also being a unique Zoo in Cyprus. Mr Christoforou’s other aim was to educate the local community about the importance of caring & conserving all wildlife. The Zoo took 3 years to complete & it was finally open to the public in September 2003.
Ancient temples, rock-cut tombs and Roman villas with elaborate mosaic floors all reflect the highly sophisticated societies which inhabited Paphos in the past. With a history dating back more than eight thousand years, the town offers a wealth of treasures to the visitor.
One of the best sandy beaches in the region, Coral Bay is located near Peyia and easily reached by car, motorbike, bicycle and bus. It offers water sports and sun bed and umbrella hire. There is accommodation nearby, while lifeguards are on duty with lifesaving equipment during the swimming season.
